Résumé : | Natural science museums are a source of wonder and amazement and encourage us to reflect on nature. They often bring a different perspective to bear on the developing sciences and on the attitude of societies towards specimens removed from the environment for purposes of inventory and study, a minute proportion of which are displayed here. It is hoped that the theme of evolution chosen for the permanent exhibition in the Grande Galerie will instil in its visitors some of the knowledge initiated by Lamarck, established by Darwin and enhanced by the scientific community over two centuries. The theme federates objects drawn from natural history collections within a dynamic vision of the living world, which enables the visitor to situate himself in time and space and in his relationship to other living beings. |
