| Résumé : | The birth of political Islam in Indonesia is enshrined within the reformist Muslim movement that struggled against the colonial presence through a religious surge. The granting of independence drove militant Islam to play a leading role in Indonesian politics and very early on highlighted the delicate compromises to be made between divine law and people’s democracy. The longstanding tradition of political Islam in Indonesia mostly relies on the history of the Justice Party, later transformed into the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS). |
