L’identité du visiteur nocturne, et la raison pour laquelle Dewi Ayu est revenue parmi les vivants, seront élucidées à la faveur d’une époustouflante plongée dans le passé. La difficile conquête de l’indépendance, les massacres des communistes en 1965 et la dictature de Soeharto constituent la toile de fond de cette tragédie de la vengeance où destinées individuelles et collectives sont intimement liées.
